EB McEnaney
I am currently a senior at Westchester Country Day School and am set to graduate in the spring of 2025. I am originally from Winston-Salem, NC but moved to High Point, NC where I currently live with my mom and our two mischievous cats, Silkey and Mavis. Since my mother is an artist, I grew up in a very creative household, where art-making was a part our everyday lives. Our home is a collection of unique artifacts that serves as an expression of our love for creativity. In terms of my current art practice, I find painting to be my strongest vehicle for expression and have recently discovered a new love for drawing and photography.
David’s Antiquity 2024 Acrylic on canvas
As the Statue of David was sculpted during the Italian Renaissance, “David’s Antiquity” demonstrates how artists during the Renaissance reflected on art and architecture from the Classical Era. David, in this case, looks back on Roman history, seeing the world through ancient archways.
Color Takes Flight 2022 Acrylic on canvas
The colors in the painting are influenced by the colors of the Blue Morpho butterfly. The orange brings in a contrast of color within the painting, to give the wings a more abstract appearance. Similarly, the design on the wings is intentionally unsymmetrical, contrasting to what is typically seen in nature.
Memorial Flowers 2023 Acrylic on canvas
Painted in honor of a late family member, the depiction of tulips emphasizes the unconditional love we have for family members and the grief we experience when we lose someone special to us.

Miscellaneous Work
Ceramic Dish
“Siamese Matriarch” is a symbolic piece representing the matrilineal generations of siamese cats my family has had. The cushion represents the hierarchy that siamese cats seem to exhibit, knowing the are descendants of cats that were treated like royalty. The ceramic plate was sculpted using handbuilding techniques.

Wood and String Sculpture

Colored Pencil Drawing
This surrealism drawing juxtaposes the mystical associations of crystals with the natural beauty of vast landscapes. The geometry of crystal structures is contrasted with a traditional landscape. The jester is a symbol of this absurd comparison.
Charcoal Drawing
Expressive charcoal drawings inspired by moments at the beach from my childhood.
Colored Pencil Drawing
The effects of light reflected on human features is explored through the use of color.
Acrylic Painting
Line and overlapping shapes create a composition inspired by winter morning light
Stationary for Mother’s Business
Business cards and stationary branded with the logo I designed for my mother’s business, E Blooms.

This handcrafted book visually demonstrates the principles of design through the theme of insects. The depictions represent scenarios from the perspective of the small crawlers, while the vivid colors showcase the playfulness of the bugs. The collage is interactive and meant to be fun for the viewer, as many of the pages include designs that can be unfolded and manipulated.
